The drumming, particularly by Branson Heinz, is sometimes too loud, especially on the song 'Lanterns', which showcases a beautiful blend of doom and orchestral elements. Additionally, the album closer, a cover of Richard Marx's 'Hazard', feels out of place after the phenomenal title track. Despite these minor quibbles, Derelict Heart is a strong debut that effectively evokes the enormity of a desolate wilderness.

In my opinion, Northern Graves has found an amazing sound on Derelict Heart.
